In a powerful address to the nation on Saturday, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al Thani extolled Qatar's National Day spirit that remained unspoiled by the siege imposed by neighbours.
"The state celebrations of this year's National Day come amid extraordinary circumstances," Sheikh Abdullah said.
"The current crisis has strengthened the values of solidarity and cohesion between citizens and expatriates in the face of unjust measures taken by the siege countries, which are contrary to all international conventions, laws and norms."
In an exclusive statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), the Prime Minister conveyed his greetings and congratulations to the Emir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani and the Father Emir HH Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al Thani.
Drawing parallels between Qatar's resilience in the face of the siege and its National Day spirit, Sheikh Abdullah said this year's National Day slogan of"Promise of Prosperity and Glory" is quoted from the Emir's speech on July 21 ” his first address to the nation after the siege.
"The slogan reflects the spirit of cohesion and mutual trust between the leader and the people, promotes the values of loyalty to the homeland, solidarity, unity and pride in national identity and contributes to the strengthening of its resolve to face foreign state conspiracies."
