Pakistan International School Qatar (PISQ) recently held the fifth annual Inter-School Literary Competition as part of the school's curriculum to give students a platform to showcase their creativity.
The event was held on the school premises and offered students a wide range of categories including Humorous Speech, Dramatic Declamation, Story Telling and Essay Writing (Senior & Junior). Over 70 participants from 21 international expatriate schools in Qatar took part in the competition. All the participants showcased their prowess and skills in their respective categories making the event highly competitive.
The judges comprised seasoned professionals, renowned educationists from various international schools and prominent debate coaches and judges.
Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the State of Qatar Community Welfare Attache Hafiz Juniad Amir Sial and PISQ Board of Governors Vice-Chairman were the chief guests of the day.
The event saw various recital by the Kindergarten Section, and an aerobics performance by the children of the Junior Wing of PISQ. But the one which kept the audience spellbound was a dance performance presented by the students of Turkish School, Doha.

In the Humorous Speech contest, Waqar Ali Khan (Bright Future International School), Mohammadnur S Hadjula (Philippine School Doha) and Awais Sajid (Pakistan International School) clinched first, second and third positions, respectively.
In the Dramatic Declamation, Sara Abdul Shaheed (Pakistan International School), Abdul Rehman Elzarkawy (Pak Shama School), and Jan Erika Mari D Castro (Philippine International School), notched first, second and third positions, respectively.
In the Story Telling Competition, Leen Marwan (Palestinian School for Girls), Tedric Joseph M Gorduce (Phillipine School Doha) were declared first and second respectively. Whereas the third position was shared by Amna Saleem (Pakistan International School) and Maya Khalaf (Global Academy International School).
In the Essay Writing Competition (Senior), Sara Ayman (Hamad International Developed School), Fabiha Saifullah Sara (Middle East International School) and Amnah Nazeer (Pakistan International School) claimed first, second and third positions respectively.
In Essay Writing (Junior) the first Position was shared by two schools - Yousuf Yasir (Doha Preparatory School) and Fareeha Illahi Bakhsh (Pakistan International School). Whereas, Aisha Nadeem (Pak Shama School) and Tama Mahmoud (Palestinian School for Girls) bagged second and third positions respectively.
The champions in all categories were presented winning trophies and merit certificates by the chief guest. The representatives of participating schools praised PISQ's efforts for hosting a successful event.
PIS Principal Nargis Raza Otho said,"Such events at schools nurture the capabilities of the students and shape their personalities with a view to prepare them for their future. Taking part in various competitions boosts the students' confidence, develops interest and most of all improves communication skills which will play a pivotal role in all their future endeavours."
She extended her heartfelt gratitude to the chief guests, participating schools, their representatives and the judges. She congratulated all participants of the competition and stressed on the importance of participation than winning.
