Al Rayyan municipality issued the maximum number of building permits in November, monthly data released by the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics (MDPS) showed.
Rayyan with 197 permits or 27 percent of the total permits, was followed by Doha (183, 22 percent), Al Wakrah (179, 21 percent), Al Da'ayen (136, 16 percent), Umm Slal (51, 6 percent), Al Sheehaniya (43, 5 percent), Al Khor (38, 5 percent), and Al Shamal (13, 2 percent).
In terms of the types of permits issued, data shows that the new building permits (residential and non-residential) constitute 55 percent (458 permits) of the total permits issued in November, while additions constituted 41 percent (345 permits), and fencing with 4 percent (35 permits).
By analysing new residential buildings permits data, the report shows that villas topped the list, accounting for 56 percent (189 permits) of all new residential buildings permits, followed by dwellings of housing loans by 40 percent (134 permits) and apartments buildings by 4 percent (14 permits).
Meanwhile, commercial buildings were found to be in the forefront of non-residential buildings permits with 61 percent (74 permits), followed by industrial buildings like workshops and factories with 21 percent (25 permits), government buildings with 9 percent (11 permits), and mosques with 5 percent (6 permits).
On month-on-month (November vs October) basis, a decrease of 2 percent was observed in November. The decrease was mainly reported from Al Sheehaniya (20 percent), Al Shamal (19 percent), Rayyan (18 percent), Umm Slal (12 percent), Al Khor (10 percent), Al Da'ayen (1 percent).
Meanwhile, Al Wakrah and Doha reported an increase of 27 percent and 7 percent respectively.
