Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue has condemned the US president's recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, pointing out that the decision will disrupt the hopes of the peace process, co-existence between religions and cultures.
The centre added that the move would destroy Jerusalem's international status as an icon of peace and a global centre for dialogue among civilisations.
In a statement on Thursday, the centre said that Jerusalem is the capital of the State of Palestine and that any change to its status adversely affects the entire peace process and opens the way for violence and conflict, which will not exclude any country in the region.
The centre also called on the United States to reconsider its decision on Jerusalem, which is provoking the feelings of more than 1.5 billion Muslims around the world and creating many crises in the region.
The DICID stressed the Arab status of Jerusalem, calling for rationalisation in any step that may affect the status of the holy city.
The centre called for constructive dialogue to resolve all outstanding political and international issues as the only solution to all problems.
