THE organising committee of Qatar National Day celebrations has announced the names of Qatari institutions sponsoring the activities for the event.
The organising committee said that the names of sponsorship packages are inspired by the cultural and economic life of the people of Qatar prior to the oil age.
The companies were classified according to the professions of the sailors on the diving ships during summer with pearl trading as one of the most important professions.
The statement said that Qatar's economy in the pre-oil era was based on the movement of the population between land and sea in winter and summer, where there were no differences between the people of the land and the people of the sea, as they both welcomed the world through trade and economic relations.
The National Day activities in 2017 reflect the values of that day and aim to realise its vision of pride in Qatar's national identity and promote loyalty and unity. Sponsoring bodies and institutions support the belief in the important role of these national events and their impact on promoting cohesion in society.
The sponsors are keen to strengthen their role and social responsibility towards the community in order to establish the national identity of the country, stressing at the same time the value of participation in national events.
The main sponsors of the events are Social and Sports Activities Support Fund, Qatar National Bank, Qatar Petroleum, Barwa Real Estate, Al Rayan Media and Marketing Co, and Al Sarh Holding Group, Ooredoo, Qatar Islamic Bank, Commercial Bank, Qatar Development Bank, Qatar Airways, Economic Zones Company, Qatar Petroleum, United Development Company (UDC), Dolphin Energy Limited, Qatargas, Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, Al Fardan Holding Group, ExxonMobil, Doha Bank, Abdullah Abdulghani and Bro, EBLA Computer Consultancy, Qatar Primary Materials Company, Company promoting Nissan and Alkass channel.
The National Day 2017 celebrations include a number of activities including the reception of the Emir His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani, the national walk on Doha Corniche, the various events of Darb al Saai as well as different other activities.
