THE Police College, as part of its Qatar National Day (QND) celebrations, aims to break the Guinness World Records by organising a mass-painting event, which will see the participation of the largest number of citizens and expatriates in the country.
THE college will organise a host of activities at Darb Al Saai, including Al Ezz painting (the pride painting), and participate in the military parade on the Corniche on December 18, said Maj Fahad Saeed al Subaie, director of the Training Department and the Chairman of the committee responsible for the organisation of the Police College participation in Qatar National Day celebrations, at a press conference at the Officers Club of the General Directorate of Civil Defense on Wednesday.
"Through this painting event, we seek to break the Guinness World Records. Upon completion, the painting will be handed over to the Emir His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani as an expression of people's loyalty," he said.
"The painting will be divided into pieces to allow the largest number of people to paint at the same moment so it can be completed in record time. The painting will be assembled together when the colouring process is completed," Maj Subaie said. The painting event will last for eight days, from December 9 to 16.
A nation service field event is also part of the college's QND activities. Captain Rashid Ali al Tamimi said the field, which is a miniature police college, has been developed to include various activities for all age groups.
The headquarters of the Police College, supervised by Captain Mohammed Oweidah al Hajri, will host an exhibition of the Ministry of Interior and a VIP lounge as part of the QND celebrations.
