THE State of Qatar participated in the third UN Environment Assembly with more than 180 countries and international organisations as well as civil society groups and decision-makers in the field.
Qatar was represented by the Ministry of Municipality and Environment. Assistant Undersecretary at the ministry Eng. Ahmed Mohammed al Sada discussed Qatar's effort in protecting the environment, highlighting that it became one of the pillars of the Qatar National Vision 2030. He added that Doha hosted last October a signing ceremony for 18 countries who became the Global Dryland Alliance, which targets food security as one of its most important goals.
The UN Environment Assembly has the universal membership of all 193 UN Member States and the full involvement of UN organisations, specialised agencies, inter-governmental organisations, civil society and the private sector. In bringing together these varied communities, the Assembly provides a groundbreaking platform for leadership on global environmental policy. (QNA/Nairobi)
