Artistes enthral audience with melodies at Souq Waqif
MUSIC lovers enjoyed a range of Gulf melodies by a group of performers at the Al Rayyan theatre in Souq Waqif on Sunday, the first day of the Eid holidays. The over 500 persons in the audience were enthralled by the sounds of traditional Arabic musical instruments, including the tabla and oud which added rich flavour to the music. The group of over 30 artistes came from different Gulf countries.

2 killed, many hurt in Libya explosions
TWO car bombs exploded in the Libyan capital, Tripoli, killing two people and injuring several others early on Sunday, a security official said. The first bomb went off in a main street near a military college used as a base for former rebel forces, killing two and wounding four people, according to the official who spoke on condition of anonymity because he wasn’t authorised to speak to the media.
