Global Entrepreneurship Week to be held from Nov 12
DOHA THE announcement of Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) in Qatar has garnered interest from various organisations that offered to contribute in-kind and other services to GEW events. These events will take place between November 12 and 18, 2012. Qatar-based social initiative Silatech, which focuses on youth employment and entrepreneurship, is the official host organisation for Qatar, and chairs the GEW Qatar Board. First held in 2007, the GEW aims to promote job creation, innovation and economic advancement through entrepreneurship. In 2011, over 24,000 participating organisations hosted a broad range of more than 30,000 events, activities and competitions, reaching over 7.4 million people worldwide. ...
Day-long QIB workshop for wholesale customers held
DOHA THE Qatar Islamic Bank organised a workshop for its wholesale banking customers, namely institutional large corporates, corporate clients, small and medium size clients as well as microfinance clients. The purpose of this informative workshop was to present QIB trade finance products and focus on the operational guidelines for the same in an effort to enhance awareness amongst QIB clients, existing and potential. QDVC celebrates Garangao with employees, families
DOHA QDVC recently organised a Garangao party, for its employees and their children. Garangao is the traditional festival for children celebrated in the middle of the Holy Month of Ramadan. Gathering after iftar, the attendees took part in several handcraft workshops where the children coloured and designed traditional Ramadan lanterns and Garangao bags. At the end of the evening, the Garangao bags were filled with the typical sweets-and-nuts mix and handed over to the children. "Organising a Garangao party is one of our CSR initiatives," explained QDVC Chief Support Services and Sustainable Development Manager Sheikha Athba bint Thamer al Thani. "We have more than 50 nationalities represented in the company and we need to create links between them and the country we live in, Qatar.
