Dibaba put injury woes behind her by retaining her Olympic women's 10,000m crown in majestic style in the first track title to be decided.
Majewski became the first thrower in almost 60 years to keep the shot put crown.
Dibaba, 26, has hardly competed at the longest track event since winning the 5,000m and 10,000m double in Beijing but put her injury hit years behind her to take gold in 30 minutes, 20.75 seconds.
Known as the "baby-faced destroyer", Dibaba burst clear at the bell and quickly put distance between herself and chasing Kenyan duo Sally Kipyego and Vivian Cheruiyot.

Nada, 17, is one four female athletes representing Qatar for the first time at the Olympic Games.
The heat was won by Karin Clashing of Antigua with a time of 30.01secs. In second spot was Vitiny Hemthon (30.44) while Rwanda's Alphonsine Agahozo finished as third fastest swimmer the heat (30.84).
Nada was timed just 0.88secs off the pace set by Clashing.
