AN ISRAELI move to recognise its first university in the occupied West Bank sparked condemnation on Wednesday. Israel’s Higher Education Council in the West Bank voted on Tuesday in favour of granting university status to a college in the northern West Bank settlement of Ariel.
Doha Bank reports 5% profit growth in first half
DOHA BANK reported a net profit of QR740 million for the first half of 2012, a growth of 5.4 percent over QR702 million for the same period in 2011. Net operating income rose 3.5 percent to QR1,222 million while total assets increased by over QR2.3 billion (4.7 percent), from QR49.5 billion as of June 30, 2011 to QR51.9 billion as of June 30, 2012.
