Firm abandons 10 Sri Lankan workers at camp
IN WHAT appears to be a shocking case of exploitation, 10 semi-skilled Sri Lankan workers have been left to starve in a labour camp at Madinat Khalifa area. Housed in a single hall with 10 beds and one air-conditioner, the workers are being supplied with food and drinking water by the residents of the locality. GCC share in FDI set to gain as global flow rises
GLOBAL foreign direct investment (FDI) flows picked up in 2011, in spite of economic uncertainty. QNB Group’s analysis of new FDI data suggests that there are structural reasons that are likely to further increase international capital flows in the coming years. The UN Conference on Trade and Development recently published its annual report on FDI flows.

US SECRETARY of State Hillary Rodham Clinton hoped to use her first meeting with Egypt’s new Islamist president on Saturday to steer Mohammed Morsi toward opening a dialogue with the military that could end the country’s political crisis. Clinton’s talks with Morsi at the presidential palace kicked off a series of high-level meetings aimed at stabilizing Egypt’s democratic transition and its alliance with the US.
