European Project

Obama and Romney tied in new poll

AFP

WASHINGTON US PRESIDENT Barack Obama and Republican rival Mitt Romney are running neck-and-neck four months ahead of November’s presidential election, according to the latest opinion poll on Tuesday.

The Washington Post and ABC television poll found both men with 47 percent support among respondents in a random survey of 1,003 adults.

It is the latest in a series of polls to show the White House race too close to call, with most either a dead heat or with the difference in support between Obama and Romney within the statistical marginof- error.

The survey showed the men even despite developments some thought would move the needle in favour of one or the other, such as last month’s Supreme Court decision on Obama’s health care reform and lacklustre jobs numbers.

On Sunday, Obama had a slight lead in key swing states based on a poll.
