on Medical Education Day
ALTOGETHER 149 physicians graduated
on the annual joint Medical
Education Day which was organised
by the Hamad Medical Corporation
(HMC) in partnership with the Weill
Cornell Medical College in Qatar
(WCMC-Q) in Doha .

graduates 376 students | QATAR University (QU)
held the graduation of 376
students of the college of arts
and science (CAS) summerfall
2011 and spring 2012 in
the CAS´s annual celebration,
recently.
During the event, QU honoured
a number of outgoing
teaching staff, retired professors,
and winners of scientific
research awards in a large
attendance of teaching staff,
along with the alumni and
their parents.
Speaking on the occasion,
Dean of CAS, Dr Eman
Mustafawy, lauded the
alumni noting that the college
is keen to keep up with
the needs of the work field
through the college´s designated
programmes. She said
that a bachelor´s degree will
be offered next academic
year in programmes for
strategies, development and

classes X, XII exams toppers | NORTH Indians´ Association
recently organised a function
to honour classes X and XII
students who were top achievers
in their examinations.
The students received special
prizes on the occasion.

to the students in the presence
of the association´s Chairman
Harish Kanjani and President
Mukesh K Singh.
The recipients of the prizes
in class X category were
Priyam Jain (first prize),
Saumya Shastri (second
prize), Anjas Kapur, Akshay
Malhotra, Harsha Lalwani
and Mohit Bulchandani
(appreciation awards).
For class XII students, the
awards were given in science
and commerce streams.

Arab-American voter issues | JOURNALISM and Communication
students from
Northwestern University in
Qatar (NUQ) travelled to
Washington DC to report on
the political attitudes and
organisation of Arab-
Americans, and how this may
influence the US Presidential
election on November 6.
Through a series of interviews
with political analysts,
leaders and voters in the US
capital, students explored the
issues influencing the Arab-
American vote — like dual
identity, discrimination, and
local and national interest
groups. They then launched
the website arabamreeka2012.
org, which showcases
their video and written reports,
the NUQ said in a press statement
on Wednesday.
