| Europe Needs A Federal Reserve |
AS the world economy teeters
again, pressure is mounting on
central banks to reopen their
spigots, make it even cheaper
for companies and households
to borrow money, and prop up commercial
banks to prevent another financial
crisis. On Wednesday, the Federal ... |

| POLITICAL PRIVATE

LET'S talk privatisation. I
know this is not a thrilling
topic. I recently wrote a
book in which I tried to
juice up the subject by suggesting
that readers might want to
imagine a privatizer as a cross
between a pirate and a sanitizer -

| | Feuding parents scar children forever | SLAMMING doors,
shouting and
stony silences
between mom and
dad can really scar
kids emotionally, new
research suggests.
Kindergarteners whose
parents fought with each
other frequently and harshly
were more likely to grow into
emotionally insecure older
children who struggled with
depression, anxiety and
behaviour issues by 7th grade,
the study authors found.
And yet, the researchers
said, not all conflict was troublesome
to children. If parents
refrained from harshly
criticising one other,
stonewalling one another or
being violent with one another,
and instead managed to
work out their problems in a
constructive way, children
weren´t terribly bothered by
the conflicts.

TOUGH times at sea

Wilde and Jason

together. Wilde, 28, opened
up about her disastrous first
vacation with her love of six
months, 36, during an
appearance on The Late
Show With David Letterman
on June 18.
"We fancy ourselves athletic
people, so we were in
Jamaica and we thought, ´We
don´t just sit on the beach all
the time. We´ll go kayaking.´
I´d seen kayaking in movies
and stuff, so we thought we
could do that," Wilde
recalled. "we took out a kayak
each. He was really good at
getting in his kayak right
away, but I got bashed in the
knees. . .I was like, ´Babe,
you´re so good.´ And he´s like,
´Honey, I´m an athlete, so. . .´"

in Mumbai rains for
Ghanchakkar |
THE shooting of Vidya Balan-
Emraan Hashmi starrer
Ghanchakkar has been
advanced by a month, and director
Rajkumar Gupta´s excitement
knows no bounds. He will finally be
able to realise his wish of capturing the two
actors romancing in the Mumbai monsoon.
Initially, the shooting was supposed to
begin in September, and Gupta´s desire to
drench his star pair in the monsoon rains
almost didn´t happen due to Emraan´s
time constraints.
Gupta narrated: "I had originally
planned an August schedule. And Vidya,
who is at the moment doing no other film,
was completely one with my film´s schedule.
But Emraan was busy promoting Raaz
3 in August as the film was supposed to
release at the end of August ... | |
