| | Arbitrator backs Air Canada in deadlock with machinists | AIR Canada won a long-running
contract dispute with its
mechanics and baggage handlers
on Sunday, after an
arbitrator opted to enforce
the airline´s final offer over
one put forward by the union.
The dispute with the
machinists union representing
8,600 mechanics, baggage
handlers and cargo
agents was handed to a government
appointed arbitrator
after the two sides were
unable to reach a settlement
in March. The two sides have
been in on-and-off talks since
the union´s collective agreement
expired in March 2011.
The Canadian government
stepped in with legislation in
March to prevent a strike and
force the country´s No 1 airline
and the International
Association of Machinists
and Aerospace Workers into
a binding. | | | Oil slips to $83 on fading

bailout payment in June |
GREECE is set to receive 1
billion euros (1.26 billion
dollars) from eurozone partners
in June, helping to keep
the cash-strapped country
afloat as it prepares to form a
new government, sources in
Brussels said on Monday.
The eurozone´s rescue
fund, the European
Financial Stability Facility,
had in May approved a 5.2-
billion-euro payment for
Greece, but kept 1 billion
euros on hold because it was
"not needed before June."
That money is now expected
to be made available,
sources said. Greece is in line
to receive a far more substantial
amount with a second
installment from its latest
bailout programme - 31.2
billion euros - but it is not
clear if and when the payment
would be approved.
