the Gulf Organisation
for Research and Development
(GORD) has announced the
launch of the Global
Sustainability Assessment
System (GSAS) as the standard
for excellence in sustainability
in the MENA region.
Making the announcement
at a press conference on
Sunday, Founding Chairman
of GORD Dr Yousef
Mohammed al Horr said,
"GSAS, as it stands today, is the
most comprehensive system in
the world. It includes standards
schemes which are
unique, covering sports venues,
recreational parks and
mosques. Since the system was
launched, we´ve received a
great deal of positive feedback

(RasGas) recently hosted a
luncheon for 12 American
teachers who are in Qatar for
the fourth annual Teachers
Educating Across Cultures in
Harmony (TEACH)
Fellowship programme.
TEACH is a cultural
exchange tour of Middle East
organised by the Bilateral
US-Arab Chamber of
Commerce (BUSACC).
The programme, offered to
primary and secondary
school educators selected
from across the United
States, provides participants
with the unique opportunity
to visit Middle Eastern countries
with insights on culture,
tradition, education and
society.
During the luncheon held
at RasGas headquarters,
Employee Development and
Welfare Group Manager
Erhama al Kaabi said,

was conducted by Hamad Medical
Corporation´s (HMC)
Occupational Health and
Safety Department recently.
The workshop focused on
safety lessons which can be
learnt from the tragic
Villaggio fire.
About 160 HMC staff and
senior management took part
in the workshop, which was
held at Hamad Medical City´s
Club Hotel.
Dr Huda al Noaimi, executive
director of Occupational
Health and Safety (OHS) during
her opening remarks
called for careful consideration
of the reasons behind the
tragedy that occurred at
Villaggio. "We should ensure
that all our hospitals have
applied the required safety
precautions, and understand
that safety is the responsibility
