Obama & Iran
THE last round of nuclear negotiations with Iran ended in stalemate, and prospects appear dim for a breakthrough at next week's meeting in Moscow. Two central factors are driving Washington's negotiation strategy at this point. The first is ...
NO ANTI-AMERICA SENTIMENT IN IRAN
MY 1,700-mile road trip across Iran began with a giddy paean to America, reinforcing my view that at the grass-roots level, this may be the most pro- American nation in the Middle East. "We love America!" gushed a former military commando, now a clothing seller, my first evening in ...

Woods set for US Open test
TIGER Woods said that humility and dogged determination would be key to victory at the US Open this weekend over the exacting Olympic Club Lake Course. The 36-year-old world superstar was the joint leader going into Saturday´s third round having "plodded along" to a one-under par total of 139. Alongside him will be his old Ryder Cup partner Jim Furyk and another crusty US veteran in the shape of David Toms. They were the only players under par and two strokes clear of a quartet consisting of 2010 US Open champion Graeme McDowell of Northern Ireland, rising Belgian player Nicolas Colsaerts, and US qualifiers Michael Thompson and John Peterson. Woods is in a familiar position. Nine times previously he has been in ...

UK press hails Welbeck´s sublime ´flick in Kiev´
BRITAIN´S press hailed striker Danny Welbeck´s late goal that handed England a 3-2 victory over Sweden on Friday, but sounded a warning about the defending that let in two goals. The victory in Kiev means Roy Hodgson´s team only needs a point from its final Group D game against hosts Ukraine to go through to the last eight at the European Championships. "Welbeck to the rescue to leave Hodgson´s men in driving seat", said the Daily Mail. "Danny Welbeck´s sublime finish put England on the path towards the knockout stages in a rollercoaster match at Euro 2012. "When the dust finally settles, Hodgson will take huge satisfaction from the knowledge both his bold selection moves, picking (Andy) Carroll and introducing (Theo) ...
