THE pilot phase for the
Membrane Distillation
(MD) project between
ConocoPhillips and Qatar
University´s Chemical
Engineering Department
was inaugurated on

The project which seeks to
evaluate ´Membrane Distillation
of desalination through
low grade waste heat´ is the
first field testing project of its
kind in the Middle East and
arguably in the world for its
unique application of MD

THE embassy of Japan in

48 Japan-related books to
Qatar National Library on
Wednesday.
Japan´s Ambassador to
Qatar HE Kenjiro Monji
presented the books to
Director of the Department
of Public Libraries Abdulla
Nasser al Ansari.
The Japanese embassy
began handing over Japanrelated
books donated by the
Japan Foundation to Qatar
National Library in 1987
under its annual library support
programme, which continued
till 2004.
Since that time, the
embassy has donated 843
books to Qatar National

QATAR Academy (QA) held
its commencement ceremony
for the Class of 2012 at the
Qatar National Convention
Centre on Tuesday.
Eighty students received
high school certificates after
completing their International
Baccalaureate Diploma
Programme.
