Qatar has decided to make
concerted efforts to check the
spread of tobacco epidemic
which, it feels, can bring
about positive changes in
society. This decision was
taken during the Society´ s
meeting to observe ´World No
Tobacco Day´ (WNTD) that
was observed with a table talk
and group discussion over the
weekend. The event was attended
by students, parents,
physicians, social workers,
businessmen, socio-cultural
activists and members of various
communities in Qatar.

THE Arab Peace Initiative
Committee meeting chaired
by Prime Minister and
Minister of Foreign Affairs
HE Sheikh Hamad bin
Jassim bin Jabor al Thani
began in Doha on Saturday.
Palestinian President
Mahmoud Abbas is attending
the meeting along with
Arab League Secretary
General Nabil al Arabi.
Discussions during the
meeting will tackle a number
of proposals presented by
Abbas on the future steps of
the peace process with the
Israeli side and then assess
the situation based on these
