MoI organises security drill to raise awareness among children

DOHA THE Community Policing sections of North and Dukhan Security Departments held a security awareness exhibition at Al Rayyan Sports Club on Sunday.
A number of Ministry of Interior (MoI) departments such as Al Fazaa, Traffic Department, Juvenile Police, Coasts and Borders Security, Drug Enforcement, Human Rights, Medical Services, Civil Defence and Permanent Committee on Drug and Alcohol Affairs (PCDAA), Criminal Evidences and Information (CEID) and Internal Security Force (Lakhwiya) participated in the exhibition, said a MoI press release.
The event witnessed a good turnout of school children in primary and secondary categories in the area such as Shahaniya, Jameela, Al Karaana, and expatriate schools including Iranian school and Filipino International School.
According to the release, the exhibition was held as part of the ministry’s partnership with educational institutions and other civil organisations in the country to grow security awareness among children.
The exhibition was the third in the series to be held by the community policing sections of the security departments, the release said.
There were also pavilions set up by social institutions such as Qatar Charity, Eid Charity, Family Counselling Centre, Qatar Foundation for Women and Child Protection (QFWCP), Supreme Council of Communication and Information Technology (ICTQatar) at the event.
Welcoming the attendees, the Assistant Director of Dukhan Security Department Brig Faraj Ismaeel al Abdullah said that the exhibition is held to build bridges to communicate with the community in order to enhance stronger relations with police and the community and to raise security sense among students.
Police canine section at Criminal Evidences and Information Department (CEID) presented a police canine show. At the show, the children learnt how police canines are tracing culprits and detecting drugs and explosives.
The Internal Security Force also staged a show that includes many latest martial arts that raised enthusiasm among the students. Qatar Centre for Voluntary Activities presented a performance on little volunteer.
