Qatargas gets City & Guilds accreditation

TRIBUNE NEWS NETWORK

DOHA QATARGAS has become the first company outside Europe to train in-house City & Guilds assurance scheme assessors.

The City & Guilds is one of the oldest certifying authorities, which through approved training centres such as C-MIST, awards certificates to candidates who successfully complete their industrial training and onthe- job competency assessment programme.

The Ras Laffan Terminal Operations (RLTO) team of Qatargas embarked upon a ‘Terminal Training Assurance Scheme’ in 2011 consisting of three stages: training, on-the-job assessment and examination, which leads to certification by the City & Guilds, UK.

Qatargas Chief Executive Officer Khalid bin Khalifa al Thani, said, “This is a significant achievement made by Qatargas and our RLTO team, which demonstrates our commitment to maintaining the highest international standards, while ensuring that we will have qualified and competent employees to contribute towards the continued success of Qatargas and now as an approved satellite centre of C-MIST UK’, Qatargas intends to continue the assessment and certification of our employees, to this international level, using our newly accredited in-house certified assessors.” “Qatargas is leading the way in achieving high standards in training and competency assessment of its employees” said Prof Keith Cornwell, chairman of CMIST UK.

CEO of C-MIST Mehdi Laftavi said, “It has been proven that a good competent employee can easily and safely perform the work of three normal employees.” Following the success of the terminal training assurance scheme, Qatargas has started the development of in-house approved assessors.

Trained and assessed by CMIST, the assessors of Qatargas are certified by a UK authority.
