| | QU fetes students on dean's list | | DOHA QATAR University's College of Business and Economics recently felicitated 198 students (151 women and 47 men) who were named on the dean's list for achieving GPA 3.5 and above in Fall 2012.
Dr Nitham Hindi, dean of the college, commended the students for the achievements at the honouring ceremonies where they were awarded certificates for the feat.
QU Honours Programme Director Dr Ahmed Ibrahim, QU Scholarship Office Director Cesar Wazen, representatives from QU Student Affairs Office, college staff, faculty and students as well as parents and well-wishers attended the event.
Officials from Qatar Investment Authority and Qatar Development Bank were also present at the ceremony.
Dr Hindi said, "It is a boost to the morale and confidence of our students that their achievements and hard work are recognised. This reflects our commitment to prepare students with the necessary abilities and skills to meet the growing demands of the local and regional labour market.

| | TEDx team sees QSRTC work | | DOHA QATAR Shell Research and Technology Centre (QSRTC) recently hosted a group of 64 TEDx Summit organisers from around the world at its centre located at the Qatar Science and Technology Park.
According to a press release issued by Shell recently, the visitors toured the QSRTC facility and had an overview of the research being conducted at the centre during the visit.
The TEDx Summit recently held in Qatar was the first to be held in the Middle East.
The work at QSRTC is focused on the development and implementation of technologies that support Qatar's energy industry, specifically in the fields of Gas to Liquids (GTL) jet fuel research, GTL catalyst testing and research, demonstrating novel uses for sulphur, carbonate reservoirs and carbon dioxide storage, the release said.
"We always strive to support initiatives that contribute to the development of Qatar, in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030.
TEDx and Shell both have a focus on technology and innovation, and we are honoured to host the TEDx Summit delegates at our research centre for their first visit to Doha," Youssif Saleh, general manager of QSRTC, said in the release.

| | First 'Made in Qatar' technology makes international debut | | DOHA AN ICT platform developed and owned by Qatar Science & Technology Park (QSTP) and Aspetar has been deployed by the city of Rome, in Italy for studies aimed at addressing prevalent health concerns.
According to a press release issued by Qatar Foundation, the new technology, known as Rasad, is a wireless information transfer platform that enables real time remote monitoring using wireless sensors and is the first technology developed in Qatar outside the energy sector to be commercialised and exported.
The application of Rasad was demonstrated during a presentation at the Campidoglio in Rome recently, which was attended by Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, chairperson of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF).
