DOHA KPMG RECENTLY celebrated the World Health Day through a two-day event aimed at promoting healthy habits among its employees.
KPMG Qatar partner Gopal Balasubramaniam said, “At KPMG, we take the well-being of our people very seriously, and constantly seek to enhance their physical and mental health to be invaluable citizens to the community we operate and live within.” “As part of our core commitment, we constantly strive to better the lives of our employees by providing them access to various lifestyle programmes that focuses on fitness, health and entertainment,” Gopal added.
The first day started with a cricket match between the Audit and Advisory departments.
Audit was the second time winner. In the afternoon staff members along with their families gathered at the Corniche to walk in an effort to raise awareness about the significance of the World Health Day. More than 40 employees and their families participated in the walk.
On the following day, a health awareness session was organised to help encourage healthy habits in the work place. There were posters in the office premises which reminded staff members to take the stairs and, finally a communication went out, explaining simple steps to reduce stress.
KPMG Qatar also plans to conduct activities throughout the month to promote healthy habits in the workplace.
Every year, World Health Day is celebrated on April 7 to mark the anniversary of the founding of WHO in 1948.
Focusing on new and emerging health issues, World Health Day provides an opportunity to start collective action to protect people’s health and well-being.
The topic of World Health Day in 2012 was “Ageing and health” with the theme “Good health adds life to years”.
The focus was on how good health throughout life can help us lead full and productive lives and be a valuable resource for our families and communities and how ageing concerns each and every one of us.
