Al Rayaan Pummels Qatar Sports 8-2 in QSL

FORMER Besiktas of Turkey and Brazilian midfielder Rodrigo Tabata banged in four goals to help al Rayyan whitewash Qatar SC 8-2 in round 21 of the Qatar Stars League at Ahmed bin Ali Stadium, in Rayyan on Saturday.

The Brazilian has been in a rich vein of form having scored his 16th goal of the season taking him to the top of the QSL goals chart, two ahead of Adriano Martins of el Jaish and teammate Afonso Aves both on 14.

Tabata scored in the 13th, 56th, 82nd (penalty) and 86th minute, while Fahad al Baloushi scored two goals in added time to complete Rayyan’s impressive win on home soil.

Earlier in the one-sided match, Rayyan’s midfield stalwarts Fabio Cesar scored in the 17th minute, which was followed by a neat dribbling act by Brazilian Leandaro Da Silva in the 27th minute.

For Qatar SC, striker Sebastian Soria, who scored off a penalty in the 22nd minute, reduced the humiliation. Alaa Abdul Zahra found the net in the 54th minute. For Coach Saeed Chiba, it was a horror show from Qatar SC that has struggled in the latter part of the QSL season.

Schiba sat in the dugout as Al Rayyan showed no mercy to Qatar SC on the pitch The championship has been already decided with Lekhwiya winning the title with two rounds to spare.
