NEW DELHI INDIA’S cricket stars took the Twitter route to celebrate the first anniversary of the 2011 World Cup win.

Sachin Tendulkar, for whom winning the World Cup was a childhood dream, can’t believe that the 12 months passed away since Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led Indian team lifted the coveted trophy for the second time, breaking a 28-yearlong wait.

“Time flies but memories last forever. What a day it was!!! 02-04-2011,” Tendulkar tweeted.

After India beat Sri Lanka in the World Cup final April 2, 2011 in Mumbai, the team dedicated the win to Tendulkar.

Indian opening Virender Sehwag also thanked wished his teammates and support staff and also thanked the fans.

“Can’t believe its been a year since we were crowned the World Champs! Everyone contributed to the dream spcly the supporting fans! Thank you,” he tweeted.

“A big hug to each and every team member including the support staff. A special thanks to the BCCI for being sensitive to our needs,” he wrote.
