Barwa shopping fest sales hit QR1mn

DOHA THE ongoing Barwa Village shopping festival in Al Wakrah recorded more than QR1 million in sales in the first two weeks.
The festival which would end on May12 was conceived to raise awareness among Doha residents for the 900- plus commercial units in Barwa Village.
Besides discounts and special offers that the stores are offering to the shoppers, the festival also includes three lucky draws featuring prizes such as Toyota Prado, Toyota FJ Cruiser, 20 iPads, 20 Blackberry mobile phones, and 20 LG LCD TVs.
Barwa Real Estate in its commitment to promote the commercial side of Barwa Village is taking steps to create awareness that would further boost business activities in the complex.
General Manager of Barwa Village Khalifa al Mohannadi said, “So far we are pleased to see the outcome with sales crossing more than a million Qatari riyals in 10 days of the festival. We are expecting an increased number of visitors in Barwa Village in the coming weeks of the festival.” The festival has a long list of entertaining weekend activities in which visitors of all age groups have participated.
They include magic shows, clown performances, balloon twisters, musical chairs, talent showcase, traditional tanoora performance, bouncy rides, colouring contests, crawling competitions, quiz competitions, tug of war, traditional henna and face painting.
Over 150 prizes have been given away to the winners of the various competitions. The food court in the entertainment area is a treat for the visitors as some of the finest flavoured restaurants treat their customers to delicious menus.
With the first raffle draw to be held on Thursday, the festival is expected to experience a surge of shoppers. The prizes listed for the draw includes four motorbikes, four BlackBerry phones, four iPads and four LG LCD TVs.
Director of Group Communication at Barwa, Hamad Rashid al Kuwari said, “The Barwa Village is finally in limelight.
“We are definitely expecting increased number of visitors in the coming days and we hope that our tenants get maximum benefit through this festival.”
