Shantiniketan holds workshop for teachers

DOHA THE Shantiniketan Indian School (SIS) organised a workshop for its teachers on Saturday. K K N Kurup, historian and ex-vice-chancellor of Calicut University, in India’s southern state of Kerala, was the resource person.

He delivered a lecture on history and heritage which threw light on various facets of history and its importance and relevance.

He was of the view that most students run away from history because it does not offer great material gains as compared to other subjects.

He said that memories associated with past provides energy to humankind to move forward.

His lecture was followed by an interactive session in which many questions were asked.

Muhammad Ismail, SIS principal, presided over the function. Abdul Khader, general- secretary, and Abdul Shukoor, vice-president, were present on the occasion.

Karunakaran Perambra proposed a vote of thanks.
