Farewell To Newt
IT's not easy letting him go. Not easy at all. Sort of like swearing off bedtime Ben & Jerry's: there's valour and the promise of self-improvement in the sacrifice, but also the sad awareness that the world just got a little less naughty. A little less fun. No matter. It's time ...

ONMay 23-24, 1865, the victorious Union armies marched through Washington. The columns of troops stretched back 25 miles. They marched as a single mass, clad in blue, their bayonets pointing skyward. As Wilfred McClay wrote in his book, ‘The ...

Kareena to fight for equal pay to actresses
VIDYA Balan´s success story has given actresses the hope for a brighter tomorrow in the Indian film industry. But they have a long way to go, says Kareena Kapoor adding that she will fight for equal "pay cheques" in filmdom. The 31-year-old shared her side of the story in a talk about "How Does a Heroine Become the Hero?" at the India Today Conclave 2012 recently. "I was in Los Angeles sometime back when I got to know that Salt was actually written for Tom Cruise. And Angelina Jolie was actually the second choice, it wasn´t Brad Pitt or anyone else. In India, there´s no such choice. "It´s always between three or four Khans or other male actors. I guess female actors...
Khloe breaks ties with PETA for sake of Kim
IN a show of solidarity for her sister Kim, Khloe Kardashian has renounced her support for the animal rights group PETA following last Thursday´s flour bombing by a supposed member of the anti-fur foundation. Airing her frustration with the organisation actions, Khloe chided the group for their "bully"-like behaviour in a message recently posted on her website. "I´m sure you all heard what happened to Kim last week," Khloe wrote on her blog. "I just received word that the woman responsible has very close ties to PETA, despite PETA publicly stating otherwise. Not only has PETA lied to the public, but they have proved that they support this kind of behaviour." ...
Big Ugadi for Sanjjanaa as 3 films set for release
KANNADA actress Sanjjanaa (Bujjigadu fame) is happy and nervous at once. She has two big releases this Ugadi (New Year in Deccan India). Narasimha with Ravi Chandran and King and Commissioner opposite Mammooty and Suresh Gopi. While in the former she plays a slice-of-life character, in the latter, which has been one of the biggest films to have come out from Mollywood, she plays Nitha Rathore, an upright cop from the North posted in Kerala. "This Ugadi could not have got any bigger for me. In Narasimha, I play a realistic character of this popular stage performer named Rani. It´s a very aggressive and glamourous character and I am very happy that ...
