poems to be released today | The largest anthology of
poems from the Gulf countries
will be launched at a
special function at the
Virginia Commonwealth
University in Qatar (VCUQ)
on Wednesday. The anthology
titled, Gathering the Tide:
An Anthology of
Contemporary Arabian Gulf
Poetry, contains poems by 47
leading poets of Gulf countries
and is edited by Patty
Paine, an assistant professor
at VCUQ.
Speaking to Qatar Tribune,
Paine said that the anthology
was an effort of three years.
"This is the largest number
of poems appearing in print
from this region. Seventy
percent of the poems were
translated from Arabic to
English while some of the
poems were originally written
