Offshore Arabia 2012 was held under the patronage of Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum.

The theme of the event was ‘Offshore Oil Spill Prevention and Response through New Technology and International Cooperation’. This enabled QP to showcase its full range of oil spill prevention and emergency response activities.

QP’s participation in the event was on the directives of Minister of Energy and Industry and Chairman & Managing Director of QP HE Dr Mohammed bin Saleh al Sada. The QP delegation was led by Saad Ali Mohammed Saad al Kubaisi, Manager of the corporate health, safety and environment (HSE) department.

At the opening of the exhibition, the UAE Minister of Environment and Water Dr Rashid Ahmad bin Fahad visited the QP stand.

QP was among the 40 companies that exhibited at Offshore Arabia 2012. Its stand was visited by hundreds of industry professionals over the course of the three-day event. In line with the theme of the event, the stand prominently featured the activities of the corporation’s oil spill and emergency response department. Visitors to the stand were able to get information on QP’s oil spill management system, which is made up of three major components: protection, detection, and rectification.

One of the major highlights of Offshore Arabia 2012 was the signing of a three-year contract between QP and Finland’s Lamor Corporation for the supply of the latest tools and equipment as well as expertise and training related to emergency preparedness.

The agreement was signed by Ali Rajab Malkan Ashkanani, manager for oil spill & emergency response at QP and a member of the Offshore Arabia Organising Committee.
