Four-day ICCmeet in Doha from March 26

DOHA THE four-day meeting of the ICC (International Chamber of Commerce) Banking Commission and Arbitration meet, which will begin on March 26, will have a special focus on Qatar and the MENA (M-E and North Africa) region.

Over 400 banking professionals from over 50 countries are expected to take part in the bi-annual meet in Doha. Qatar will be hosting this meet for the first time.

The last meeting of the ICC was organised in Beijing.

According to SBI-QFC branch Chief Executive Officer Satyajit Pratap, while the Qatar National Bank (QNB) is the diamond sponsor, Commercialbank the gold sponsor, the State Bank of India (SBI), Doha Bank and HSBC would be extending their cooperation as the silver sponsors of the summit. The met will conclude on March 29.

While the focus of the meeting will be volatile global economic scenario, the participants would also be discussing ICC market intelligence on trade finance, international standard banking practices among several other important issues facing the world of finance today.

On the SBI-QFC branch’s participation, Pratap said it would be great opportunity for the largest Indian bank to integrate and tailor its business philosophy with the local business environment and requirements.

“It would be a great opportunity of mutual learning and value-addition to each other’s model and business practices,” Pratap remarked.

Top speakers and panelist at the four-day meeting would include senior representatives of the Qatar Financial Center Authority, the World Bank, and the International Monetary Fund and European Bank for Reconstruction.
