Successful first round of QIE

TRIBUNE NEWS NETWORK DOHA

THE first round of Qatar International Enduro (QIE) has been a complete success.

Qatar Motor and Motocycle Federation (QMMF) has organized for first time in Qatar an Enduro championship. A total of 31 participants joined this round divided into three different categories: motorcycles E1, E2 and E3 and quads. A total of 10 different nationalities were represented in this round (Qatar, UAE, Kuwait, Iran, Sri Lanka, Jordan, Canada, Australia, France and Great Britain) and both motorbikes and quads run together in the 2 races event.

The event took place on Saturday at Sealine and after one hour from free practice, the first race started at 10.20 in a 7km track length.

The winner of the first race was Jassim Nassir from UAE with a Suzuki in E1 category that completed the race with a time of 42.30.032. In second position, with only a gap of 3.130, Obaid Al Kitbe also from UAE crossed the checkered flag with his Honda quad. Abdullah al Shatti from Kuwait finished in third position in E1 category.

The podium winners of the race 2 were the same and there were no change in the 1-2-3 order.

Trophies in the award ceremony were given by Mr.

Nasser Khalifa Al Attiya, Mr. Sultan Al Morraikhi and officials of the event.

The double winner of the event, Jassim Nassir was extremely happy at the end of the day with his two victories.

“I would like to thank the UAE Federation for the support and UAE Moto Team. Also a very deep thanks to QMMF and Mr.

Nasser Khalifa Al Attiya for their warm welcome from the beginning and all the help, “ Nassir said at the end of the day.

The quad rider Obaid Al Kitbe had the feeling at the end of the day, that all the teams and participants are really happy with this event.

“This track is perfect for bikes and quads. I am preparing now for the Desert Challenge in Abu Dhabi and I will come next month to Qatar again for the Sealine Cross Country Rally’, Al Kitbe stated.

The next round of Qatar International Enduro will be on September 20th and 21st.
