Burial of Neocons
T is as easy to be distracted by the outward glamour of a prime ministerial visit to Washington as it is to fail to discern its occasional real inner substance. Both things apply in the case of David Cameron's White House talks with Barack Obama on March 14.
I'D like to thank the makers of the "Kony 2012" video for goading me to write about Joseph Kony. With about 100 million views, it is now one of the most viral videos of all time...

IBQ shares investment insights with Spanish businessmen

DOHA IBQ SHARED with an elite group of Spanish businessmen key insights on Qatar’s banking sector and industry opportunities for the future during a session organised in collaboration with the Spanish Business Council in Qatar recently.

IBQ’s senior representatives addressed leading Spanish companies, highlighting Qatar’s unmatched economic fundamentals.

In his presentation, Senior Relationship Manager for Corporate Banking at IBQ Dany Khalil said, “IBQ is well-positioned to support international companies with business in the country and provide them with necessary market advice.” He noted that Qatar maintains its position as the country with the highest GDP per capita in the region, adding that the country’s fast economic growth is expected to attract new businesses from Spain and other European countries.

Chairman of the Spanish Business Counsel Marcos Gutierrez said, “We thank IBQ for its continued support to Spanish Business Council and the Spanish companies in Qatar. Today’s presentation was extremely valuable and it helped shed light on key opportunities available in the market in addition to sharing tips on best banking practices. IBQ has always been at the forefront of financial institutions which have provided Spanish companies in Doha with superb tailor-made banking solutions. We are happy to have IBQ as one of our preferred partners for business.” Qatar and Spain’s economic relations have increased at a very fast pace in the last few years. More than 1,200 Spanish companies sell their products and services through their local partners in Qatar every year.

A large number of Spanish companies are present in the country through their representative offices.

IBQ has recently announced its financial results for the year ending December 31, 2011, recording the second highest increase in profits in Qatar among all Qatari banks and an impressive 25 percent increase in net profits for 2011.

As one of the leading financial institutions in Qatar, IBQ has won multiple awards over the past four years. IBQ recently won the UK’s Euromoney ‘Best Private Banking Services in Qatar’ for 2012, the Arabian Business ‘Best Private Bank in Qatar 2011 Award’ and the Banker Middle East’s ‘Best Customer service Awards’ for 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011. The Banker (UK) recognised IBQ as the ‘Fastest Moving Bank in the Middle East’ in 2009.”
