Assad calls election; 22 troops killed in ambushes
SYRIAN President Bashar al Assad on Tuesday announced a May 7 parliamentary election, even as 22 regime troops were killed in ambushes by rebel fighters. The announcement came as UN-Arab League peace envoy Kofi Annan said he was expecting a response from Assad to “concrete proposals” to halt Syria’s bloodshed.
Minister opens AgriteQ12
MINISTER of Environment HE Abdullah bin Mubarak bin Aaboud al Midhadhi on Tuesday inaugurated the third Qatar International Agricultural Exhibition (AgriteQ12) at Doha Exhibitions Center. The four-day expo is being organised by the ministry of environment in association with Seqlia for conferences and exhibitions. The expo will run till March 16.
