Learn and have fun at agricultural exhibition

DOHA MINISTER of Environment HE Abdullah bin Mubarak bin Aaboud al Midhadhi on Tuesday inaugurated the third Qatar International Agricultural Exhibition (AgriteQ12) at Doha Exhibition Center. After the opening ceremony, the minister went around the pavilions of 154 global and local companies as well as government institutions and participating organisations.

The four-day expo is being organised by the ministry of environment (MoE) in association with Seqlia for conferences and exhibitions. The expo will run till March 16.

The expo is showcasing agricultural tools, equipment and machinery, modern irrigation equipment, poultry production equipment, equipment used in food industry, food stuffing and packaging, fish nurseries, water treatment and management systems, equipment for gardening, besides methods of controlling pests and insects. State-of-the-art agricultural machinery and many things more are also on display.

The MoE pavilion hosts eight departments of the ministry including Biotechnology Center, Animal Resources, Green Qatar Center, MoE’s Operations Department and others.

Global participants include companies from Bulgaria, Greece, Cyprus, Turkey, Costa Rica, Holland, Ukraine, Pakistan, Finland, France, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Yemen, Kuwait, Syria, Lebanon, Bahrain and Sudan.

The Doha Zoo has also pitched in with a wide range of animals, reptiles and birds on show. The cage with two tiger cubs is the most eye-catching in the zoo pavilion. The baby tigers were born in the zoo two months ago.

Other animals on display include a snake, turtles, rabbits, guinea pigs, parrots. Emu and Ostrich eggs are also displayed.

Supervisor of the Education Office at the Zoo, Khulood al Nasser said, “It is good for us to showcase the animals and activities that take place at the zoo.
