US NO BETTER THAN EUROPE
WE Americans cherish our myths. One myth is that there is more social mobility in the United States than in Europe. That's false. Another myth is that the government is smaller here than in Europe. That's largely false, too. The US does not have a significantly smaller welfare state than...

RasGas raises QR1.3mn for charity

TRIBUNE NEWS NETWORK

DOHA RASGAS Company Limited raised over QR1.3 million at its 7th annual charity gala dinner recently.

All proceeds from the event, which featured a silent auction of Pro Am golf teams and an exciting array of luxury auction and raffle prizes, will be donated to the Qatar National Cancer Society and the Arab Union for the Blind.

RasGas Managing Director Hamad Rashid al Mohannadi warmly welcomed 21 professional golfers and 350 RasGas customers, suppliers, key business partners and employees as his guests for the annual event.

“We are delighted over the overwhelming success of this event which has raised funds for the Qatar National Cancer Society and the Arab Union For the Blind and are very grateful for the generosity shown by our shareholders, customers, suppliers and employees in raising such a substantial sum,” said Mohannadi.

“Our charity weekend – now in its seventh year – is a key part of RasGas’ corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme. We believe that adopting a healthy and active lifestyle will benefit the whole community. This is the focus of RasGas’ ‘Year of Health’ CSR campaign this year and I’m very proud of its positive and demonstrable impact on many worthy causes,” said Mohannadi.

The well attended event was the curtain-raiser for the RasGas Annual Charity Golf Weekend that started with the RasGas Pro Am Golf Tournament on March 1, with 21 teams of four players. Each team comprised one professional golfer, one RasGas host and two VIP guests, representing RasGas’ key customers, suppliers, shareholders and business partners.

The charity weekend concluded with the RasGas Classic Golf Tournament for employees on Saturday.

RasGas is committed to supporting people in need, and to working with registered charitable associations to provide targeted and sustained support. All proceeds will be donated through RasGas’ charity fund called ‘Sunduk Al Kheir’, which was established in 2010 to support long-term initiatives, from donating equipment and material to offering practical and financial aid.

In the coming months RasGas will continue with a range of internal and external initiatives focused on health to raise funds and support for Sunduk Al Kheir.
