QFC Regulatory Tribunal holds hearing, swears in new judge
THE Qatar Financial Centre Regulatory Tribunal (QFCRT) conducted its first sitting to hear appeals by individuals against sanctions imposed upon them by the QFC Regulatory Authority on Sunday. The tribunal also swore in a former member of Hong Kong´s Securities and Futures Commission Laurence Li as a judge on the occasion. Smartphone penetration in Qatar at 70%: ictQatar
QATAR has a high smartphone penetration at 75 percent, according to a survey conducted by the Supreme Council of Information and Communication Technology (ictQatar) and Nielsen, an independent survey agency. This is higher than Singapore and Kuwait which have 72 percent and 54 percent penetration respectively. The survey was done in Qatar between December 2011 and January 2012 among the residents between the age of 15 and 64. Random samples were collected from 1,012 individuals of both genders.
