Tourist arrivals to rise to 3.7 million by 2022
QATAR expects between 1.7 million to 3.7 million tourists annually by 2022, the head of the body delivering the 2022 World Cup said on Sunday. “The World Cup will also contribute to a 10% growth in the value of the region’s hospitality and tourism sector,” Qatar 2022 Supreme Committee Secretary-General Hassan al Thawadi said at a conference in Doha.
Boonen wins Tour of Qatar’s first stage
TOM BOONEN of Belgium won the first, 133.5 kilometre stage of the Tour of Qatar here on Sunday, sprinting home ahead of Britain’s Adam Blythe and Peter Sagan of Slovakia.
