UREP research proposals | QATAR National Research
Fund (QNRF) announced the
award of 52 research proposals
for the 11th cycle of its
funding programme, the
Undergraduate Research
Experience Program (UREP)
on Wednesday.
In this 11th UREP cycle, the
QNRF received 135 research
proposals, each of which was
independently reviewed by
three international peer
reviewers, none of whom had
any affiliation or connection
to the institutions that submitted
proposals.

diabetic awareness drive | QATAR Diabetes Association
(QDA) and El Jaish Sports
Club on Wednesday signed a
memorandum of understanding
(MoU) to jointly organise
a series of diabetics campaigns
across the country.
The MoU aims to create
awareness and educating the
community about diabetes
and its preventative measures.
As part of the initiative,
QDA and El Jaish Sports Club
will hold Al Bawasil
International Spring Camp for
diabetic children from around
the region at the Aspire
Academy this month.

| | Doha Food Fest to have
special Japanese corner | MORE than 70 restaurants, cafes
and hotels are expected to take part
in the Third Annual Doha Food
Festival to be held behind the Doha
Exhibition Center in Al Dafna from
February 8 to February 11.
Titled ´Taste and Fun 2012´, the festival
will host a special Japanese corner
featuring dishes prepared by chef
from the Japanese embassy along
with a renowned chef from Tokyo.
This is the first time the festival
would showcase dishes from a particular
country — in this case Japan. The
focus on Japanese cuisine is also part
of the 40th anniversary of Japan-
Qatar relations.
