| | HIRST, GLOBALLY
DOTTING HIS ´I´ | THANKS to the Gagosian art empire, a ludicrous number of
paintings by Damien Hirst are on display right now: 331 of
Hirst´s implacably cheerful "spot" abstractions are spread
among Gagosian´s 11 galleries in eight cities on three continents.
The good news, of course, is that they´re not all in
one place. And none involve dead animals, maggots,
encrusted diamonds or vats of formaldehyde. They´re mostly just grids
of repeating, neatly made circles, each a different colour.
In New York, where 115 of the 331 are on view in the three Gagosian
galleries in the city, the quality of the art – and the experience of it –
varies tremendously.

or less) at the festival.
Who knows if Mark Webber, 31,
has a directing career ahead of him or
not. At the moment he has the most
heat as an actor, appearing in studio
films like Scott Pilgrim vs the World
and three movies playing at this
year´s Sundance. But one of those,
The End of Love, marks his second
attempt at directing, and it´s an
attention grabber.

honours at Zee awards |
MACAU was brightly lit up with all the
Bollywood glitterati who had converged on
the beautiful island over the weekend for
the Zee Cine Awards night which was held
on Saturday.
Ranbir Kapoor´s performance in Rockstar managed to
earn him the Best Actor (Popular) award. Meanwhile,
Shah Rukh Khan won the Best Actor (Jury) award for
Don 2.
Vidya´s universally applauded performance in this
year´s The Dirty Picture, garnered her the Best Actress
award in both categories (Jury & Popular).
Best Film (Popular) went to Rockstar and Best Film
(Jury) went to The Dirty Picture.
AR Rahman was honoured with the Best Music Award
for Rockstar.
