TRIBUNE NEWS NETWORK
DOHA INTERNATIONAL Gulf Trading Company (IGTC)- Chubb Fire Qatar recently held a seminar on the latest developments in fire safety equipment.
There were presentations by Warren Hill of Eaton- Cutler Hammer, and Justin Strousse of Clarke Engine, both experts in their fields.
Hill, a US national, represents Eaton-Cutler Hammer in the international market, where he is responsible for sales, service support and training.
His 16 years of experience in the mechanics of fire pump controllers informed the presentation he gave about his company’s fire pump controller equipment, with regard to installation, wiring, operation and testing.
Technical features were also discussed, as well as how fire pumps interface with fire alarm systems.
Strousse, director of global sales for Clarke Fire Protection Products, has been a keynote speaker for the installation of diesel fire pump drivers and the use of variable speed diesel engines in fire pump installations for the last 12 years, part of a total of over 20 years experience in the development and manufacture of fire prevention equipment.
His presentation concerned an overview of diesel engine technology and how it applies to pump controllers in terms of power provision, how it can assist with the cooling of pumping equipment, standard and optimal features and also performance feedback.
Additionally, Strousse explained the process of ‘deaeration’ and its importance in current diesel engine cooling systems.
Deaeration is the process by which oxygen and other gases is removed from liquids used in cooling systems, the benefits of which are a massive reduction in corrosion within the system and, as a result, better efficiency and longer life for cooling systems – saving both money and environmental resources.
IGTC-Chubb Fire General Manager Rami Batrawi said, “Our number one priority as a company is to enhance fire safety across the board.
IGTC-Chubb Fire does this through the sale and installation of the world’s finest fire safety equipment, the expertise of our staff and, through this seminar, bringing industry experts to Doha to inform and educate delegates about the latest developments in fire safety equipment.
“By keeping abreast of the most modern fire safety technology, techniques and overall knowledge we can, together, enhance the safety of Qatar for everyone. To this end we would like to thank Hill and Strousse for sharing their expertise with us in what was a productive and informative seminar.”
