| | QFI programme brings Qatari, US students together | | DOHA WEVIDEO, the first company to offer full featured, cloudbased, collaborative video editing, has partnered Qatar Foundation International (QFI) to employ collaborative film making in fostering US – Arab cultural ties.
As part of an 'Exploring Science' exchange trip to Doha, 39 students from Chicago, United States and Qatari schools came together to conduct environmental projects and share their cultural experiences through discussions, music, and art, a statement issued by the QFI said.
Following the 10-day trip, the students are now using WeVideo as a part of QFI's online Yallah forum to collaborate on films, which show how water connects cultures.
Students from the US and Qatar will get back together in Washington, DC in March to showcase their work at the Environmental Film Festival.
"WeVideo's cloud-based collaborative film editing is a perfect fit for our student exchanges. The trips are just the first step towards sustained interaction between US and Qatari schools," said Maggie Mitchell Salem, executive director of Qatar Foundation International.

| | ICBF, KQMC hold symposium on diabetes | | DOHA KIMS Qatar Medical Centre (KQMC) in association with the Indian Community Benevolent Forum (ICBF) organised a symposium on 'Understanding Diabetes' at Al Wakrah recently.
The symposium was inaugurated by Indian Ambassador HE Deepa Gopalan Wadhwa.
The chief guest Dr Abdulla O al Hamaq, executive director of Qatar Diabetes Association (QDA), made a presentation on diabetes in the Gulf States and QDA's prevention programmes.
Dr Amin Jayyousi, senior consultant on diabetes & endocrinology at Hamad Medical Corporation, who was the guest of honour on the occasion made a presentation on diabetes awareness.
Dr KMR Mathew, chief medical officer of KQMC said about 500 low paid workers and fishermen were screened free of cost at various workers' camps in and around Al Wakrah in November.
Mubarak Jassim al Khater, chairman of KQMC, welcomed the guests and appreciated the efforts of KQMC and ICBF in providing care and help for the lower sections of the community.
