Woods to team up with Romo

AFP

LOS ANGELES TIGER Woods will make his US debut at the Pebble Beach National Pro-Am with National Football League star Tony Romo as his playing partner, American broadcaster ESPN reported on Monday.

Woods and Romo will play alongside each other as a two-man team for the fourday tournament which begins on February 9, ESPN said according to one of its sources.

It will be the first time in a decade Woods has competed at the Pebble Beach tournament.

In 2000, Woods posted one of the most memorable victories of his career, winning the US Open at Pebble Beach by a dominant 15 shots. Also that same year, Woods rallied from a seven-shot deficit in the final round to win the Pebble Beach pro-am.

Woods and Romo have played a pro-am before, back in 2009 when they teamed together at the AT&T National in Washington, DC.

Romo, the star quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys, played at Pebble Beach last year alongside partner John Daly of the US.

Woods, who is ranked 25th in the world, is trying to return to form after a 2009 sex scandal and a string of injuries which left him winless for more than two years on the Tour.
