The Syrian Quandary
GIVEN the events of the Arab spring, some might say that the tell-tale sign that a dictator's days are numbered is when his defiance turns to delusion. On December 7, in an interview with ABC's Barbara Walters, a chuckling and ...
THE BRITISH EURO FARCE
THE British, or rather English, mistrust of what lies beyond the Channel has always been fathomless. W H Auden, observing a "cult of salads," jested that "before very long" the south of England would resemble "the Continong." There across the sea, on a ...

Mirren said the award marks an "extraordinary moment in the history of women," but that it is "slightly shameful statistically that only 12 women have won it in 112 years, when you think how important women historically have always been, specifically in terms of peace." She spoke to The Associated Press before the Noble Peace Prize concert in Oslo on Sunday, which she hosted with American actress Rosario Dawson. The concert will honour this year´s...
Kashmira, Urvashi break into a catfight on stage
THE oomph quotient on the stage of Zee Rishtey Awards 2011 got a new high when two of television industry´s hottest women, Urvashi Dholakia and Kashmira Shah walked in to present the awards to the ´ Most Mastikhor Actor´ and the ´ Best Khalnayak on Zee TV´ . All went fine with both engaging in casual banter about presenting the awards but unscripted masti took over the minute Urvashi uttered, "Kashmira." She was rudely interrupted by Kashmira who retorted, " It´s not Kashmira... It´s Cash Mira." The look on Urvashi´s face was priceless!!! Without further ado, she clarified saying, "Kashmira Ohh! Sorry Cash Mira ladies and gentlemen ...
