Malayalam talent search contest from October 21

DOHA THE organisers of the sixth Qatar Malayali Conference will conduct a talent search programme for the students of Indian community schools on Malayalam language and the cultural heritage of the Indian state of Kerala. Malayala Prathibha 2011 will be the title of the contest. According to the organising committee, all students of Indian schools from grade 7 and above studying in Indian schools can participate in the contest which will have two stages. The first stage will be conducted in the schools, in the form of a written test which will have multiple choice questions. The final stage will be in the form of a quiz competition. The toppers of the preliminary examination from each institution will represent their institution in the final stage. There is no limit on the number of participants from each institution in the preliminary stage. The contest is open to all students regardless of nationality. The preliminary test will be conducted on October 21. The deadline for entries from schools is October 13. The toppers of the contest will be awarded with prizes, including laptops, air tickets and books. The organising committee also announced a story writing competition for students in 6th grade and above. The stories should be in Malayalam. Authors of the top three stories from each category - junior and senior - will get prizes and certificates. The deadline for the submission of stories has been set for October 17. Unpublished stories only will be accepted. Stories can be sent directly by fax (44416422) or through email to info@islahiqatar.org. The 6th Qatar Malayali Conference will be held on November 17 and 18 at Aboobacker Siddiq Independent School in the Muntaza area.
