MINISTER
of Culture, Arts and Heritage HE Dr
Hamad bin Abdulaziz al Kuwari launched
a book titled, ´The Writer´s Craft:
Teaching Creative Writing in Qatar´
at Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar
(CMUQ) on Sunday. The book which contains
the papers of 23 students from the university
has been edited by Dr Amal al Malki,
an Assistant Teaching Professor at CMUQ.
All the student contributors of the
book were also present at the book launch.
Talking about the initiative, al Malki
said that language is a significant
part of the culture and community in
Qatar. The country is going through

QATARI
national Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah
al Thani, co- founder of Musafir.com,
reached a new personal record when he
scaled 6,700 metres of Mount Aconcagua,
the highest mountain in the Americas,
standing at 6,962 metres (22,841 ft.).
Al Thani climbed alongside Masoud Mohammed,
a resident of Dubai; Raed Zidan, from
Palestine, and Zed al Refai from Kuwait,
who is the first Arab national to climb
the Seven Summits, including Mount Everest.
The team set off on a three week expedition
in January through the Polish Gracier
