Arabs´ Defining Moment
ONCE I had lunch with Samuel Huntington at the Harvard Faculty Club. I was eager to talk to him because he had used my 1991 book, La Revanche de Dieu ("The Revenge of God"), in his famous article and subsequent volume, The Clash of Civilisations. I had argued that the emergence of religious political movements from the 1970s onward had comparable roots in Islam, Judaism...

Qtel, iHorizons in strategic alliance

TRIBUNE NEWS NETWORK

DOHA QTEL and iHorizons have entered a strategic alliance agreement under which they would work together on developing and marketing a number of advanced technology solutions and business services.

The two companies will cooperate on world-class business solutions aimed at supporting companies in specific industries and growth sectors.

This alliance will see the two companies align their product development roadmaps and technology architectures to achieve a faster time-to-market for new solutions, as well as bespoke service for key customers.

The two firms would target several areas and emerging technologies, including cloud-based business services, enterprise portal solutions, managed services, digital media solutions and wireless applications.

The agreement, which recognises the ongoing development of Qatar’s economy, was signed at a ceremony attended by senior Qtel and iHorizons representatives including Eng Khalid Abdulla al Mansouri, Executive Director, Business Solutions, Qtel, and Mohamad Takriti, CEO of iHorizons.

It is one of the first agreements of its kind between two leading Qatari companies, a major regional operator and a leading provider of business solutions and IT services, a Qtel press release said on Sunday.

Qtel’s al Mansouri said that the company was placing a strong emphasis on ensuring that customers received the highest quality of business services and support, backed by world-class infrastructure in Qatar, as demonstrated by Qtel’s fibre technology project that will deliver unprecedented support to businesses across Qatar.

“In order to fuel the business ambitions of our customers, we are working with best-in-class partners like iHorizons to develop a new generation of solutions,” he said.

iHorizons’ Takriti pointed out that the world was witnessing a rapid convergence between telecom and IT services, and businesses and consumers expected leading edge solutions and flawless customer service.

“iHorizons is teaming up with Qtel to develop, market, and operate such converged solutions,” he said.

Qtel provides some of the most advanced business communications services available in the region, and continues to enhance its portfolio for companies of all sizes.

In addition to supporting the communication needs of many of Qatar’s leading and most strategically-important enterprises, it has also developed a wide range of dedicated support services for small and medium sized businesses.

Given Qatar’s ongoing dynamism and growth – even in the face of fierce global economic pressure – Qtel has worked hard to ensure that the network is in place to enable consistent and ongoing development on the part even the most ambitious Qatari company.

The company has invested over US$3.2 billion in Qatar’s technology infrastructure to ensure that this growth can continue far into the future.
