Equine Veterinary Medical Center (EVMC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Montreal, Canada, that will enhance equine veterinary learning experiences and develop the veterinary student externship program at EVMC. 
The aim of the agreement is to establish a partnership between EVMC and University of Montreal, which will see students from the university’s Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FMV) spend time at EVMC, taking part in clinical externships and research stays in the field of equine veterinary medicine. 
In addition, the EVMC will welcome three University of  Montreal students per year. The students will be enrolled in the final year of their undergraduate degree in veterinary medicine program. They will have full access to EVMC’s state-of-the-art facilities, including the use of laboratory equipment.
Mr. Saad Khalid Awan, Acting Director, EVMC, and Dr. Christine Theoret, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Montreal, signed the agreement.
Commenting on the collaboration, Dr. Theoret said: “The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University de Montreal is pleased to partner with the Equine Veterinary Medical Center. We thank EVMC for opening its doors and expertise to our students, allowing them to develop their veterinary skills in an international context.” 
Mr. Awan said: “Conducting high-quality research and exploring innovative avenues in the field of education are considered fundamental at EVMC, and this approach is driven by the strategic direction provided to us by Qatar Foundation – our parent organization.
Mr. Awan stated that the MoU was an example of EVMC implementing the vision of QF. “In line with QF’s efforts to promote educational activities, the agreement forms part of EVMC’s commitment to pursuing local and international collaborations to promote education and knowledge transfer, and make research opportunities more widely accessible.” 
EVMC, located within Al Shaqab’s world-class equine facilities, comprises an equine referral hospital, diagnostics laboratory and a research and education department. The center, staffed by board-certified veterinarians and researchers, applies advanced veterinary techniques and procedures in the treatment of equine patients.
