It will take at least four weeks for the life in Qatar to get back to some form of normalcy if the measures to contain the spread of coronavirus yield positive results, a top health official said on Sunday.
“Four weeks is the least period we need from now … to allowing back schools and businesses to run normally,” Dr Abdullatif al Khal, Co-chair of the National Epidemic Preparation Committee, told Doha 360 website, citing the latest data on the discovered coronavirus cases and the extent of the virus transmission in Qatar as well as the experiences of foreign cities such as Wuhan in China.
However, he pointed out the need to wait and see the results of the measures being taken now and their impact on the level of virus retreat.
"If we find positive results in terms of controlling the virus during the next four weeks, the measures taken will be reviewed," he added.
But he added that based on the experiences of other countries, these measures will not be cancelled in one go, but will be phased out if we can control the virus within the next four weeks.
